The Opportunity

The Registration Specialist serves as subject matter expert for Registrars in regards to student record keeping compliance and ensures adherence with federal, state and accrediting laws, rules, regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as subject matter expert for Registrar and student record keeping compliance. 
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures, ethical practices, and the guidelines of government and accrediting organizations. 
  • Develops, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the Registrar department.  Assists in integrating changes into Registrar processes in a timely manner. 
  • Responds to inquiries from schools regarding student record keeping compliance issues.
  • Coordinates with the National Registrar and Director of Learning and Development staff to design, develop and administer training and communication programs for Registrars.
  • Advises Registrars on the development of optimal course schedules and maximizing full-time enrollment.  Provides campus-level support in the absence of a Registrar.
  • Advises Registrars on progress towards goals and objectives.  Coaches Registrars in the development of skills through timely, specific and constructive feedback.
  • Provides Help Desk support for student management and course scheduling software.  Provides testing as needed to support completion of IT work orders.
  • May assist in auditing or reviewing student records for compliance issues.
Required Skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration or related area from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.  A Master’s degree is desirable.
  • At least four years of related experience with student/customer contact or related experience.  Experience in a Registrar’s office or a regulated industry a plus.
  • Efficiently and effectively utilize a personal computer and related software including departmental specific software, Microsoft Office and the Internet.  Previous experience with SQL databases strongly preferred.
  • Experience in communicating with all types of individuals.  Able to interact with employees of all levels. 
  • Able to provide examples of situations which need rule interpretation and application.  Proven experience in performing inductive and deductive reasoning to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions and then apply those rules to specific problems to produce answers.
  • Experience with analyzing and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of options and exercising problem solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic, timely and accurately organize, prioritize and complete all job responsibilities. 
  • Work independently and with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of quality work product and output.
  • Interact in a cooperative and professional manner with others, work in a team environment.
