Job Description

Develop and present formal training courses and materials for internal and external customers. Perform training requirements analyses for development of training programs. Conduct training task analysis. Provide initial qualification, refresher, sustainment, and remedial training to UAS ground and maintenance crew. Document and track student progress. Evaluate training methods and recommend changes/improvements to ensure efficient and effective qualification of students.

Interface with hardware, software, and human systems integration engineering personnel to support and enhance product improvement processes. Provide technical and operational expertise for training device hardware and software development, testing, and utilization. Perform as a Subject Matter Expert for maintenance related issues.

Prepare plans for accomplishing training/publications tasks.  Assure that uniform and efficient training/publications processes are applied across all assigned programs. Read and interpret contracts and specifications and determine detailed requirements. Provide direction and leadership to writers and support personnel who may assist with assigned tasks. Prepare plans for accomplishing publications and training tasks. Assist in the preparation of technical, cost, and schedule estimates and proposals. Coordinate training materials editing, composition, production and delivery in accordance with applicable specifications, standards and other requirements. Responsible to maintain schedule and cost performance on assigned programs.

Plan for and participate in review conferences with customers. Practice ISO 9001 principles and concepts. Coordinate quality control activities to assure the accuracy and adequacy of each training product including in-process/final review, editing for compliance with all applicable specifications and standards, validation and change verification.

Required Skills

Thorough knowledge of electronics and good mechanical aptitude. Personal computer skills, including common office software. Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings and to document all types of systems. Well-developed ability to plan, organize, and schedule. Ability to work well with others and maintain a close liaison with customer personnel. Ability to perform in-depth research and document all types of system designs. Willingness and ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments, respond to short notice tasking, and work well under pressure.

Must be able to gain qualification/certification to perform the duties of a maintenance and crew chief instructor, including ground and flight operations. Knowledge and ability to maintain system maintenance documentation. Experience with USN/USMC Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and associated reporting systems is highly desired.

Required Experience

Experienced in development and presentation of aviation training courses, with emphasis on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Typically requires a minimum of ten years related experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (electronics/mechanical), or equivalent education or experience to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the job duties. Willingness to travel frequently and on short notice to domestic and international locations. Able to attain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Prior qualification as a maintenance instructor and field experience with a Tactical UAS platform is highly desired. Experience and knowledge of USN/USMC training processes is highly desired.
