GENERAL SUMMARY:

Position is a consultant to the research staff of a not-for-profit government consulting organization located in McLean, VA. Position will be located at a Director of National Intelligence work location in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Individual will perform duties as an Editor for Intelligence Today for an intelligence agency client. Duties will include providing editorial and production support for Intelligence Today in accordance with the client’s standards and production schedule.

• This individual will perform structural, substantive, and manuscript editing at various stages of the publication process.
• This individual will provide critical, constructive review of presentations to ensure effective communication of complex material content and structure.
• This individual will ensure presentations have a logical order; writing is clear, concise and consistent; and that the tone meets intelligence community (IC) standards.
• This individual must be experienced with editing intelligence products with an emphasis on high current interest topics in a fast paced production environment.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, communications or related area, graduate degree preferred.
• Three years experience minimum.
• Superior editing, proofreading and communication skills are required.
• Seven years editorial experience will substitute for college degree.
• Ten years editorial experience will substitute for graduate degree.
• Ability to organize information into a concise useful format
• Ability to integrate written and visual material

Areas of Knowledge\Experience

• Intelligence Community publication standards
• Previous IC experience a plus

Security Clearance:

Requires an active TS/ISSA clearance.
