The Mail and Courier Team Lead is expected to provide strong technical and programmatic leadership and to posses the required qualifications needed to perform their tasks. The Team Lead will be responsible to the Government for all requirements within the Mail and Courier support operation. Within this function will be a full range of management duties including, but not limited to, scheduling, resource management and business operations.
The Mail and Courier support operation shall entail delivery of mail, both classified and unclassified, between the Compound and other Government agencies in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The Team Lead will provide oversight and perform the following responsibilities:
- Operate daily courier runs between various Government agencies within the Washington Metropolitan Area to deliver and pick up classified and unclassified mail, plus additional ad-hocs and Customer schedule of stops.
- Operate daily runs to pick up incoming express mail packages and special deliveries.
- Distribute and pick up mail at designated locations on each floor of the buildings on the Government Compound (total of 50 mail stops).
- Maintain all necessary documentation to record and receipt the shipment of classified documents in accordance with USG regluations.
- Provide ad hoc courier service upon request during normal and/or non-normal, business hours for urgent deliveries, within two hour notification.
- Provide and maintain a small package preparation area accessible to all tenants for packaging and wrapping outgoing mail packages.
- Handle, sort and deliver internal and inter-agency mail received by Mail & Courier.
- Arrange for the delivery of newspapers to central delivery points for tenants.
- Package large shipments for internal or external mailing for requesting customer offices. Assist with providing estimates prior to performing the work.
- Deliver official outgoing USPS and Express mail to the McLean Post Office and local express mail faciliies (e.g. FedEx and UPS drop off points).
- Maintain a USPS postage meter and appropriate express mail equipment to facilitate the outgoing shipment of commercial mail.
- Process documents for dissemination, to include the preparation (wrapping, receipting) of the annual congressional Budget Justification Book (CBJB) and other publications that are created by Customer components.
- Recommend processes that may enhance the efficiency of the mail and courier operation, such as periodic review of existing courier routes and stops, work flow analysis of the mail center and the need to incorporate automated technology.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Lotus Notes)
SECURITY: Must have an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years recent management experience in a classified mail and courier facility supporting a USG contract of similar size, scope and complexity.
