The Sheriff's Volunteer Program fosters community involvement, awareness, and support of the Ada County Sheriff's Office. Volunteering also provides additional resources, time and talent to enhance the mission of the Sheriff's Office. Volunteers with the Ada County Sheriff's Office are highly valued and are a significant component of public safety in Ada County. It is also an exciting and rewarding way to give back to your community!
As a volunteer you will make lasting friendships, receive training and supervision, recognition and appreciation for your time and talent, and a lot of personal fulfillment.
The Ada County utilizes civilian volunteers to assist staff with daily functions. Volunteer duties may include, but are not limited to, administrative, clerical, data entry, inmate programs, and other general duties. Besides the necessary skills listed below, candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
APPLICATION PROCESS:

- Selected candidates will complete an interview process, a polygraph examination, a criminal history check, and a background check before beginning their volunteer service. This process generally takes eight weeks to complete.

Because of the Sheriff's Office attempt to create a smoke-free environment, out of concern for the health and welfare of our employees and those with whom we work, only applications from those who do not smoke will be considered for volunteer service. Applicants must have not smoked any tobacco products for at least eleven (11) months prior to applying.
