Provide a safe and secure environment for the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory (NEIDL). Provides access control utilizing established procedures and technology. Carries out operational functions such as: respond to requests for assistance, respond to emergency and disaster situations. Conducts patrols of NEIDL facility/grounds and respond to calls. Reports and documents all deficiencies and violations. Ensures all policies and procedures set forth for the protection of BUMC and the NEIDL staff, students, employees and assets, are enforced and complied with.
Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and 6 months to 1 year of customer service experience required. Must have completed a Massachusetts Reserve Intermittent Police Academy or higher level academy training and be appointable as a State Special Police Officer, upon hire. Must successfully pass all background examinations in accordance with criteria defined in Massachusetts General Law - Chapter 22. Must possess a Massachusetts Driver's License. Must meet all requirements for and successfully complete a full time Massachusetts Special State Police Officer Academy. Must be able to possess and maintain a Massachusetts License to carry firearms. Employment at Boston University will require background checks. This position also requires successful results of a medical examination and psychological assessment.
