Job Description

As we approach the commercialization phase of our first product, DX-88, a novel therapeutic for the treatment of Hereditary Angioedema, Dyax is building out a number of new commercial departments to meet this exciting new stage of evolution for the organization.

This individual will provide market research/CI leadership, coordination and integration to assist in the development and implementation of product business plans and the achievement Kalbitor goals. He/she will supply strategic and tactical consultation to all levels of brand management and other functional areas via portfolio-level and key brand primary market research.

He/she will also help marketing develop a strategic vision via in-depth portfolio and brand-specific market analyses and will contributes direction to commercialization process for key pipeline brands.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Director, Commercial Analytics. Internal relationships include interactions with the extended brand teams and corporate management. Works with support staff that would assist in the project execution and management of specific research/CI projects. External relationships include interactions with outside consultants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Market research and competitive intelligence coordination analyses and design
• Oversee the management of qualitative and quantitative marketing research projects, associated budgets, timelines and relations with outside consultants.
• Design, execute and analyze custom qualitative and quantitative marketing research projects with actionable recommendations in development/support of brand/portfolio strategy and tactics
• Develop holistic and comprehensive market assessments and perform other ad hoc analyses to proactively address issues in support of business objectives
• Support the planning process via market-based situation analysis to identify issues/opportunities and associated strategies/actions to address by partnering with other members of the commercial team.
• Play a leadership role through interactions with internal stakeholders to provide evidenced-based guidance for new product/lifecycle planning and business plan development where appropriate; formulate/track potential marketing opportunities/strategies and associated implementation where appropriate.
• Consults with brand team on proper focus and prioritization of marketing research resources against brand needs.
• Support special business development functions as needed.

 Leadership and Development
• Strive to maintain awareness of 'best practices' in market research and competitive intelligence across industries by maintaining a current familiarity with data sources, MR techniques and CI/MR agencies.
• Pro-actively look for process improvement opportunities by challenging existing processes, proposing solutions and driving approved implementation plan
• Lead development of draft market research/CI plan and present this to the Marketing Teams
• Expected to manage a higher volume of projects and maintain high quality deliverables
• May supervise, coach or counsel junior level staff on MR approaches, techniques, consolidated presentation development, business issue identification and methods for addressing, etc.

Collaboration & Communication
• Present final research results to appropriate audiences
• Develop and sustain close working relationships with key stakeholders, primarily in brand marketing team, but also in SBD, sales operations and other departments.
• Develop presentations with clear storylines to communicate key conclusions and recommendations

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

• Ability to work across functions, partnering with the brand teams, leadership teams and other groups Dyax Corp.  Works independently – Gathers input about needs from stakeholders and sets own direction accordingly
• Demonstrates strong understanding of marketing strategy, planning issues, budgeting and organizational priority setting
• Demonstrates ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, and provide recommendations that will assist in the development of commercial strategies
• Analytical and strategic thinking skills required – able to see the big picture from scattered pieces of information and present complex and disparate data in a clear and concise manner; must have an ability to see beyond the confines of MR data to broader business issues.  Excellent writing, presentation, project management and strong influencing skills required
• Strong understanding of both primary and secondary research sources (i.e. IMS Audits)
• Demonstrate understanding of clinical and medical concepts, especially as they relate to current treatment practice

Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree required; MS or MBA preferred
• 7+ years overall experience, with 5+ years pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods, marketing clinical/business analysis experience required, of which 3 years primary market research/CI experience required.
• Prior marketing/sales reporting and analysis experience in a pharmaceutical company preferred
