Job Description

Position Summary

The Sr. Software Test Engineer will utilize knowledge of software test methodologies to facilitate requirements gathering, architecture design, code development and build, testing, implementation, and maintenance. The Sr. Software Test Engineer will evaluate requirements, develop test documentation, conduct functional testing, performance/stress testing, and support program decisions of capability effectiveness for DoD programs at SPAWAR.

Contract Specifications

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in relevant engineering/science field (CS, CE, EE preferred)
  • Ten (10) years minimum experience with web based integration, software development, and testing, to include:
  1. Test & Evaluation Criteria
  2. Technology Analysis & Assessment
  3. Design Definition
  4. Systems Architecture & Analysis
  5. Development of Systems Specifications
  6. Systems/Equipment Integration
  • Five (5) years minimum technical experience in support of relevant projects with at least three of the last five years in a web services environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and testing requirements of each phase
  • Ability to create program test strategies and detailed test documents
  • Extensive experience developing and executing scripts with automated test tools including: SOATest, Mercury Loadrunner, SOAPUI, iTKO LISA
  • Previous work history analyzing system features and functionality and determining the best approach and techniques to conduct testing (black box, white box, stress/load, data integrity, security, automation)
  • Ability to create and deliver technical briefings to all levels of management
  • Ability to estimate level of effort (LOE) and duration estimates for project tasking
  • Proven technical leadership experience to provide direction and assist other team members with their responsibilities based on volume of work and established priorities in order to meet the requirements of the customer
  • Ability to manage multiple program components and activities simultaneously, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness is achieved per contract requirements
  • Highly organized and motivated with the ability to proactively identify, analyze, and resolve potential system/software risks and problems

Desired Skills & Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of DoD Instructions and Directives to include DoDD 5000.1, DoDI 5000.2, DoDD 8500.1, DoDI 8500.2, DoDD/I 8530.1/.2, CJCSI/M 6510.1, the NSA/IATF, and CC Protection Profiles (PP) for TCSEC Level “C2” Controlled Access
  • Previous experience working in the DoD and/or SPAWAR environments
  • Foster positive work relationships with all stakeholders - customers, clients, co-workers, suppliers, other contractors and visitors, to meet identified contractual obligations
  • Highly reliable and capable of meeting work schedules/deadlines consistently
  • Ability to adapt to unanticipated support needs and changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and general project management terms, standards and processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills
  • Knowledge of DoD/military command structure to include all military branches

  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
