Life Cycle Engineering, Inc is seeking a Power Systems Engineer with Power Generation and/or Power Electronics experience to support the U.S. Navy Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALs) Program. The selected candidate will work out of our Washington DC office, interfacing with U.S. Navy civilian engineers and program managers as well as equipment manufacturers.
Examples of Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Supporting electrical power generation/distribution and machinery electronics necessary for shipboard integration of EMALs including modifications required as a result of EMALs component testing
- Writing technical white papers and conducting oral discussions of these papers with multiple engineering agents.
- Involvement in component design and qualifications testing
- Coordinating Technical efforts of Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), Navy Engineers and Vendors
Skills, Abilities, Traits & Education:
- BS Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 5-7 years experience in Power Generation and/or Power Electronics (i.e. motors, controllers, and power).
- Machinery Instrumentation and Controls experience
- Ability to work independently
- Navy shipboard experience a plus
- Experience with variable frequency driver and motor driver a plus
The successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain a security clearance. The position may require up to 20% travel.
