Job Description

STG International is currently accepting resumes for a Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse and Certified Nurses Assistant to provide services at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, in Fort Gordon, Georgia.

 STG International is in an active bidding process for this position(s) and position availability is contingent upon STG International, Inc. being awarded the contract.  The contract award is scheduled to be announced on/around late summer or fall 2009. 

 Responsibilities will include the following:

 Physician Assistant

  •  Manage care of patients seeking care for or follow-up of medical problems, and health maintenance/prevention counseling.
  •  Identify needs for consultation/collaboration and referral with appropriate members of the health care team.
  •  Diagnostic Examinations/Tests/Procedures.
  •  Physical Examination.
  •  Ordering of laboratory tests
  •  Order radiological examinations
  •  Treatment.
  • Medical conditions.
  • Procedures.
  • Consultations.
  • Prescribe approved medications.
  •  Record the health assessment and the results of diagnostic studies completely, accurately in the automated medical record.
  •  Review and update or create a master problem list.
  •  Record patient education on the appropriate forms.
  •  Prepare consultations for specialty care as necessary.
  •  The contract provider shall provide outpatient services for patient visits as scheduled by the Government.
  •  There is no inpatient support required by this contract.

 

Orthopedic Registered Nurse

 

 

  • The Registered Nurse shall be a graduate of an Associate, Diploma or Baccalalureate degree program from a National League of Nursing accredited school of nursing.  The RN shall possess and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted, registered nurse license in at least one U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.  A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
  •  Have been actively practicing as a registered nurse for the past three years, with at least one year with experience in an acute care setting caring for pre and post op patients.
  •  Have demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive care to adult and pediatric medical/surgical patients.
  •  Have and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Have documentation of required continuing education in Fire, Safety and Infection Control.
  •  Have no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of assigned duties.
  •  Have documented training and skills verification.
  •  Provide comprehensive medical/surgical nursing services within the professional scope of practice for patient with orthopedic diagnoses and for a variety of medical/surgical diagnoses and for all ages.
  •  Conduct initial assessment on patients, contribute to the medical plans based on identified patient needs, coordinate with ancillary services to assure provision of care and document all plans, assessments and care provided.
  •  Monitor and maintain any treatment modalities (oxygen, IV therapy) in place when patients arrive in clinic.
  •  Observe and assess patients’ clinical condition, recognize, intervene and notify physicians of change indicative of complications.
  •  Initiate resuscitative measures in emergency situations.
  •  Operate and monitor specialized equipment used in the Orthopedic Clinic and Cast Room environment.
  •  Make nursing care assignments for various skill levels of professional and support personnel.
  •  Prepare patients for surgical and/or diagnostic procedures and assist with procedures as necessary. Solve pre-operative problems and assist patients with issues presented in person or telephonically, through collaboration and communication with physician staff, mid-level providers and other departments.
  •  Ensure that all TJC standards for professional nursing care are met during performance of care.
  •  Complete appropriate medical record forms in compliance with EAMC guidelines and policies for each patient.
  •  Verify the content and correctness of all recorded entries in the patient record. All      documentation/ records/ reports must meet or exceed established EAMC standards to include, but not limited to: timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, and signature. The outpatient record shall be completed the same day the patient is seen.
  •  Respond to emergency codes as directed by the Deputy Commander for Nursing or designee and summon appropriate backup from the clinical and hospital staff.
  •  Assist in the training and education of nursing students and in the orientation and precepting of assigned personnel. Update and maintain knowledge of current orthopedic conditions, treatments and procedures and related patient care needs.

  •  The registered nurse may attend annual conference at the expense of the attendee. The government will not incur any expense for training, conferences or continuing education units.

 

  RN shall additionally perform duties to include, but not limited to:

  •  Assist the Head Nurse in the daily clinical operations of the unit assigned.
  • Provide clinical education programs for support staff personnel and assist in the development of orthopedic residents.

 Certified Nursing Assistant

 

  • The CNA will work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse Supervisor of the Orthopedic Clinic Register.  All practices and procedure shall meet or exceed established standards of the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organization.

 

Certified Nursing Assistant will:

 

  • Provide support services to physicians and staff nurses in the Orthopedic Department. Select the proper instruments and /or tray for use of the doctor diagnostic examination, choose the appropriate nursing care procedure for the type of treatment designated, select the proper patient’s chart posting patient facts and summaries of nursing care, recognize the difference in patient diseases/ illnesses, and be able to reconfirm what the doctor or nurse already covered with the patient concerning pre- and post-operative/ medical nursing care.

 

  • Be a certified nursing assistant.
  • Be trained and experienced in a hospital outpatient setting.
  • Have at least one (1) year experience in the past three (3) years working as a certified nursing assistant.
  • Be capable of providing assistive care for adult and pediatric patients.
  • Have and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Have documentation of required continuing education in Fire, Safety and Infection Control.
  • Have no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of assigned duties.
  • Have documented training and skills verification.
  • MUST HAVE BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS

 

Performs General Tasks:

 

  • Take/ record blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight as required by institution and clinic.
  • Provide routine care to all clinic patients.
  • Obtain/ handle routine specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Apply/ remove bandages, binders, simple dressings and hot and cold packs.
  • Assist patients in walking and moving.
  • Assist physicians and/or nursing staff as appropriate during patient examinations and treatments.
  • Provide personal care to include assistance to the lavatory.
  • Make equipment available to patients such as wheelchairs, crutches, and stretchers.
  • Accompany patients in wheelchairs, on litters or ambulatory within the hospital.
  • Provide patient instructions as directed by the clinic’s standard operating procedures.
  • Perform general maintenance duties including, but not limited to: cleaning/sorting supplies, handling linen according to policies and cleaning/ preparing patient exam rooms; maintaining cleanliness and order at work stations and common areas.
  • Perform patient treatment procedures within established guidelines.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to registered nurse and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations according to preplanned emergency response measures.
  • Provide patient care as assigned to include documentation of nursing activities in the patient record as appropriate.
  • Assist with the maintenance and security of patient information.
  • Perform CPR.

Required Skills

 

In addition to the qualifications given, the Physician Assistant shall have experience and perform the task and procedures listed.

 

  • Shall be capable of performing all forms of examinations, screening, treatment, services and consultations for eligible beneficiaries for care at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

 

  • Hours of Performance- Hours of performance Monday through Friday from 0730 -1630(excluding Federal and Training Holidays) the schedule hours include a sixty minute lunch break which is not paid by the government. The performance schedule will be provided to the contractor 30 days in advance contractor‘s Point of Contact (POC) shall be available by telephone during the above stated hours of performance.

 

  • Unscheduled absences shall be called into the Chief of the Orthopedic Department or designated representative by the contract providers prior to time scheduled for work each work day that he/she is unable to report to work. 

 

  • Contract healthcare personnel shall not have worked in the 8 hours immediately prior to their MTF shift.
