MUST BE AN EXPERT in SEARCH not just a general Enterprise Architect
Search Architect:
The Enterprise Architect is a key role part of the Search Platform team, and is responsible for implementing the technical strategy, creating technical roadmaps, system blueprints and supporting engineering efforts related to development.
This role requires working throughout all levels of the organization, and working closely within an Agile/Scrum Team as well as with a vendor's engineering team, business sponsors, business SMEs and Information Technology, to ensure that high business value solutions are planned and delivered.
Essential Functions:
* Work closely with Search Product Owner and Search team to define and develop enterprise search strategy and roadmap.
* Design and document architecture solutions to implement search strategy and roadmap. Understand, document, and represent all search components and interfaces.
* Demonstrate leadership and coordinate with other architects to define/design common tools and integration points for shared search components. Examples include:
* Coordinate integration with other systems, such as kp.org waterfall releases and related products
* Identify use cases for key search components (e.g. standalone facet portlet)
* Define options required to ensure search portlets are configurable
* Provide technical leadership and design to ensure reusability and flexibility of search portlets.
* Work closely with search engineers and portlet developers to coordinate required integration and implementation. Also work closely with search engineers on major architecture decisions/solutions related to search engine configuration and indexing.
* Coordinate timing for all updates to the search architecture:
* Search Engine releases
* Portal/portlet upgrades
* Taxonomy tool updates
* Assist product owner and program managers on release planning, estimates and scope management, etc.
* Coordinate and support QA team on test planning and execution during testing phase.
Skills and Qualifications:
Vivissimo experience is a huge plus.
* Strong knowledge of Search technologies and concepts.
* Knowledge of search engine capabilities and limitations.
* Knowledge of display (portlet) environments
* Knowledge of portal and enterprise content management system.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field, or 4 years of equivalent work experience
* 10 or more years of information technology experience
* 7 or more years of enterprise architecture experience
* Experience with RDBMS platforms and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) desired.
* Experience working in large organizations with geographically dispersed teams and complex technical environments
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* The ability to use charts and graphs to convey core architecture concepts as part of an oral presentation to the leadership team is required. (A review of architecture artifacts which contain charts that the architect has composed will be required as a part of the interview process)
* Strong customer focus with a demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with business sponsors and technologists
* Proven track record of implementing and actively managing fundamental information architecture frameworks, methodologies, and architectures
