THIS IS A FULL TIME SEASONAL POSITION

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide seamless & personal guest service to all Cruise West guests at assigned local destinations including but not limited to: tour desks, depots, airports, & ports of call, with an emphasis on making the guests’ stay with Cruise West as carefree and enjoyable as possible.  Guest Service is of utmost importance and is constantly required during guest contact.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:

·       Inform and assist guests: Ensure guests receive hotel key packets, general information and orientation to local area and the services available.  Engage guest in conversation, relaying important information as you form a relationship with all guests.

·       Deliver personal & seamless guest service by preparing for and verifying all arrangements including special guest service requests with attention to personal details, such as special needs, specific room requests, tour arrangements, birthdays, updates on special events and other requests of similar nature.   

·       Become acquainted with all Cruise West tours and other vendor tour offerings. Produce accurate and personal daily adventure updates and use resources such as brochures, staff, and other tools available to make educated suggestions for optional activities in all Cruise West locations.  Promote, sell and book optional tours to meet division annual sales goals.

·       Perform concierge duties including: contacting airlines, vendors, hotels, taxi services; making and/or or confirming reservations, obtaining any other information as needed by guest, and assist with any and all other additional guests needs. 

• Luggage Handling: Lift, handle and carry guest luggage.
• Participate in Absolute Safety program.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent. 
• Minimum 6 months to one year related job experience.
• Must have good command of the english language with the ability to publicly speak in front of small to medium size groups, exhibiting strong oral communication skills and good written communication skills.  
• A genuine interest in and ability to learn pertinent facts and information about the state of Alaska and share it with others in an enthusiastic and entertaining way.
• Strong guest service skills and the ability to problem solve in situations where satisfactory resolution of issues must be achieved.
• Must be creative, flexible and able to work in a hectic environment with competing multiple priorities. 
• Solid teamwork. Interpersonal skills require the ability to get along well with others and take direction well.
• Ability to complete multiple or complex tasks while adhering to broadly defined practices, procedures and processes.
• Physical ability to frequently lift and carry objects of moderate to heavy weight, such as luggage and/or other equipment.
• Appearance and Grooming must adhere to Cruise West appearance standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Travel/Tourism experience.
• General knowledge of the local area.
• First Aid/CPR certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Duties and responsibilities are generally performed in a Land Operation setting.  Environmental conditions generally include all weather conditions, a full range of outdoor work surfaces, automobile transport and irregular work schedule.  Physical demands generally include frequent kneeling, twisting and balancing, moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.  Mobility demands generally include occasional sitting and frequent standing and walking.  Sensory demands generally involve a hectic work environment with competing priorities, use of computer terminal, telephone operation and hand held radios.
