Job Description

Cobalt - the automotive industry's most comprehensive provider of integrated solutions for digital advertising is seeking a Build and Release Engineer.

The Release Configuration Engineer is a member of the PMO team responsible for the execution of delivering Cobalt SW products to market through Release Management, Configuration Management, and delivery of deployments to Cobalt’s production operating environment.  The Release Configuration Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, and supporting release management tools, including the build system (Anthill Pro), the source control system (Perforce), the bug tracking system (Bugzilla) and other tools required to delivery Cobalt products to market (Informatica, Ant, Python). 

This position works closely with Project and Program Management, Development, Quality, IT and Product Management in support of building and facilitating the timeline, operations, and execution throughout the Cobalt SW release process.

Key responsibilities include: project management and oversight of delivering Cobalt SW Products through to release, support and operations of the Cobalt build system, support and system administration for Perforce and Cobalt’s Bugzilla bug tracking system, tool development and encouraging best practices throughout the company. A key secondary responsibility is supporting the offshore team Release Configuration Engineers on their releases by providing onshore follow-up and assistance when needed.

The Release Configuration Engineer is a quick learner, detailed, accurate and excels at customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily deliveries of configuration management using current Cobalt build system (Anthill Pro), Perforce administration, CM System Administration, and Bugzilla Operations and Administration related to release activities.
  • Project Management oversight of software releases by coordinating release milestone definition, scoping artifacts, progress to milestone tracking, issue/risk tracking, and overall project support adhering to Cobalt’s release management process.
  • Maintenance of online collaboration SharePoint portal for all releases delivered.
  • Daily status reporting on progress toward delivering on release milestones.
  • Support offshore Release Configuration Engineers.
  • Facilitate SCRUMs, huddles, and/or other release related meetings.
  • Provide primary support and training for the CM Tool Chain (Perforce and Bugzilla).
  • Develop scripts, including Build Automation, Perforce triggers, and other tools.
  • Regularly perform system administration, upgrades and maintenance of Anthill, Perforce, Informatica and Bugzilla applications and systems.
Required Skills
  • Familiarity with configuration management concepts (reproducibility, traceability, concurrent Development strategies).
  • Familiarity with Project Management, Release and Change Management experience, and knowledge of artifacts such as release notes and deployment plans, as well as skills such as planning, risk and issue management.
  • Experience in building and releasing software. Anthill Pro preferred.
  • Experience installing, configuring and maintaining Unix/Linux applications.
  • Demonstrated scripting abilities (Shell scripting, Python, Java, Ant, and Perl desired).
  • Proven ability to architect and implement systems consisting of an application framework, a relational database data store, and a web front end.
  • Familiarity with SQL, XML, HTML, CSS.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels of technical and non-technical audiences, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative, multi-country/time zone environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and prioritize numerous tasks.
  • Proactive personality with a proven track record of following through and delivering on responsibilities.
  • Highly adaptive and working as part of an extended team.
  • Experience administering source control systems, Perforce preferred.
  • Experience administering defect-tracking systems, Bugzilla preferred.
  • BS or equivalent experience in an applicable area
